Nocturnal Boundary Layer height calculations using simple meteorological pre-processors for the L. A. basin (D. Boucouvala, B. Bornstein and M. Tombrou)
Simple meteorological pre-processors addressed for the Nocturnal Boundary Layer (NBL), (Tombrou et al., 1998) will be tested for the Los Angeles basin for the 4-7 August 1997, during the Southern California Ozone Study (SCOS97)
Mixing heights calculations performed by using two sets of inputs:
- surface measurements from 110 surface sites
- atmospheric parameters calculated by the MM5 model
The NBL heights calculated by the preprocessors are compared with:
- vertical measured data (profilers and rawinsondes) through the maximum winds and inversion heights
- MM5 PBL model calculations
